The Best Philanthropist: The Pure Devotee as the Perfect Yogī
Bhakti Vikas Swami explains that ÅrÄ«la PrabhupÄda considers the pure devotee to be the world's greatest philanthropist because authentic welfare must resolve the root cause of sufferingāthe cycle of birth and deathārather than just treating temporary bodily symptoms. While conventional philanthropy like feeding the poor or building hospitals is well-meaning, it cannot eliminate the karma-driven problems of poverty and disease and often inadvertently reinforces the "bodily concept of life" by making people more comfortable in a temporary, material existence. True compassion, therefore, lies in distributing spiritual knowledge and Kį¹į¹£į¹a-kathÄ to help others transcend material bondage; although devotees may distribute food as prasÄdam, their essential mission is to provide the spiritual education necessary for eternal liberation rather than fleeting material relief.
